Hi, I'm Raisa. I live to learn.

picture of myself

I’m an Indonesian working in Canada.

I was created and packaged in Jakarta, Indonesia for the first 18 years of my life.

Then, I was exported to Davis, California and repackaged even further. I exposed myself to a breadth of subjects, ranging from STEM to social sciences and the humanities. I majored in Computer Science and minored in Music at the University of California, Davis, and I completed my college education in a little over three years.

Next, I was shipped to Massachusetts, where I worked at Bose's Alexa Voice Cloud Team. There, I stretched my abilities as an engineer, and I was an apprentice to the most amazing and accomplished mentors who have now become my friends.

I continued my adventure as a full-stack software engineer at Trimble MAPS, a transportation company. From a software development standpoint, I learned everything from frontend to backend development to software infrastructure. From a personal development standpoint, I gained confidence. I learned to question everything, and I was encouraged to ask uncomfortable questions without shame or retribution. I discovered what it means to be a leader, and it's not about having a certain title or an assigned position of seniority. Leadership is all about taking initiative, inspiring people, and bringing out the best in others.

I started and hosted Intrigued The Podcast, where I talk to people from different industries. This podcast is for anyone, especially young people, who may be feeling lost with regards to their career path. Through conversations with our guests, we expose a wide array of life paths and career options in order to show young people that there is no one path to a fulfilling career.

After 6+ years in the United States, I moved to Halifax, Canada, where I attended a master's program in Applied Computer Science at Dalhousie University.

A year later, I moved to Toronto to explore cybersecurity at a financial institution, where I honed my stakeholder management skills and presented to executives.

Currently, I work as a full-stack software developer at Clio, a legal technology company in Toronto, Canada.

I may be repackaged or shipped to other stepping stones in life, but one thing remains certain: I will always remain an apprentice. While I may evolve and move on to other destinations in this world, the relationships that I've built along the way are as permanent as I want them to be.

I'm a software engineer by trade, and an artist by heart.

I've found my medium of self-expression through music.

I started composing since I was thirteen years old (for funsies: here is the first song I wrote and composed), and I've kept at it ever since.

My primary instrument for music composition is the piano, and I occasionally write songs, sing, play violin, and guitar. Listen to how I evolved as a musician, starting with these compositions:

Here are some covers I've made:

I also express myself through writing and public speaking.

I was also a motivational speaker in college, and I spoke in four introductory CS classes!
